Disappointing first sail of the year, as the wind died before sailing. This
was the second ride on my rotational 8.6 Gaastra Savage. Used purchase but
in great condition and my first non rental sail in years. I used a 8.7 H2
Pryde twin cam which was a great sail but a nightmare to waterstart and
delaminated in 2 years (ex rental).
Magazine reviews are crap when they say a large rotational is as stable v
cam sail. Even in very light wind I detect the swing weight as the sweet
spot moved around. No doubt whatsoever if you like "locked" feeling sails
it’s a cam every time, if you don't fall in much.
Had one plane for 100 metres but other than hooked in, never planed. Squiz
flew past me in no wind, but I am carrying a stone over which I must lose!
It was a great day temperature wise so I was well happy checking my kit,
first time. Lots of alloy corrosion and jammed zips to be sorted, so know
what I am doing Sunday!
Others say 1 star but 2 for me cos chatted with usual crew at windsurfing,
then stayed at the spa with another lot of sauna farts and solved the
world’s problems till 8pm. Got stitched up with a can of beer that was
shaken violently as I popped it in the steam room..*astards.
Suspended the diet with a Chicken curry boiled rice and Chicken chow mien
after. Would have given 3 stars if my cold tinny wasn't tampered
with.......
